Freya Polly Stöter

The name first came up during lunch in a döner kebab restaurant at Zurich's airport. A truck was parked outside belonging to a company called Fry.

About the Name

Wikipedia gives a good overview about the origin of the name Freya. Polly is a great-grandmother (not a parrot). Most importantly, though, Freya perfectly fit our criteria for a name:

• sounds nice
• works in English and German
• uncommon (check for Germany and the U.S.)
• does not start with "S" or even worse "Sa"
• short
• is not "Monk" (special request by one parent)

On Language

Freya is pronounced [freɪˈa] (as represented with IPA symbols). Hyphenation is Frey‧a, but should not be used. The official German name is Stöter [stœtɐ] and contains an umlaut. It becomes Stoeter [stɔːtə] in English.
